Sentencing for convicted parking lot shooter Michael Drejka to begin Thursday
PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. -- The convicted Clearwater parking lot shooter will learn of his fate Thursday morning.
Back in August, the jury found 48-year-old Michael Drejka guilty of manslaughter after fatally shooting Markeis McGlockton over a handicapped parking spot outside a Clearwater convenience store in July of 2018.
Drejka could face up to 30 years behind bars.
Drejka's case has sparked a nationwide debate over Florida's controversial "stand your ground" law after the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said Drejka was protected by "stand your ground" and did not initially arrest him.
