It’s homecoming weekend at Perry Hall High School, where the varsity football team will take on Dulaney tonight at 7 p.m. following a parade down Ebenezer Road (steps off at 5:45 p.m. – expect the road to be closed between the middle and high schools). A community concert Sunday caps off the weekend (PHHS auditorium, the Chesapeake Concert Band, 7 p.m.). Elaborately decorated trees, tinsel and garland, gingerbread houses complete with all the gumdrop trimmings.

That’s what the Kennedy Krieger Institute Festival of Trees fundraiser is all about – providing a magical holiday atmosphere while raising money for the Institute’s many programs.

Setting up something similar along Joppa Road in Perry Hall might cause a car crash or two.

Rosedale youth wins golds – yes, plural!

After training all year in preparation for the Amateur Athletic Union National Championships and the USA Taekwondo Junior Olympics – which ran back to back and coast to coast – 11-year-old Devoria Whitaker of Rosedale was more than ready to compete. Well, the White Marsh Warriors proved it. After losing its first game, the team, a White Marsh Recreation U8 travel baseball team, went on to win 29 straight games, including many area tournaments (the Harford County Early Bird Tournament in late March, the Overlea Baseball Tourney in May, and the Essex Tourney in June (against highly regarded Metro League teams from across the state).) CHARMED, I’M SURE – Tony Gugliuzza shakes hands with actor Damian Gregory – the friendly police officer on the WB’s “Charmed” – while dad John looks on. Residents of Forest Hill, the two have volunteered for the Ray Lewis Foundation’s Celebrity Bowling Tournament for three years running. John Gugliuzza said they snagged the photo op because his wife loves “Charmed” and watches it every night.
