‘Joseph’ dazzles at Toby’s in Columbia

The Bible story of Jacob’s son Joseph sold by his jealous brothers into slavery in Egypt comes vividly to life in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s hit musical JOSEPH & THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT, playing through June 8 at Toby’s Dinner Theatre in Columbia.
Set Designer Lynn Sharp Spears wonderfully recreates ancient Egypt for the tale told through country, calypso and ballad beats showcasing a high-energy talented cast honed to perfection by Directors Shawn Kettering and Toby Orenstein.
David Jennings is superbly stellar in the title role, his voice powerful, especially in singing “Close Every Door”. Janine Gulisano-Sunday deserves applause for double duty as Costume Designer and Narrator. Indeed, the entire casta rated a standing ovation.
Chef Chuck Cofield and his kitchen crew prepare a delicious buffet. The oasis decoration added an extra-special touch.

CAMELOT comes to Hippodrome
With book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner and music by Frederick Loewe, the ever-popular CAMELOT comes to Baltimore’s Hippodrome Theatre at the France-Merrick Performing Arts Center on Eutaw Street March 25 through April 6.
Re-discover the grandeur of one of history’s greatest love stories with film, TV and award-winning Broadway actor Lou Diamond Phillips starring as King Arthur, Rachel de Benedet as his lovely Guenevere and Matt Bogart completing the love triangle as Lancelot.
The memorable score includes such classics as “If Ever I Would Leave You,” “How to Handle a Woman” and, of course, the unforgettable “Camelot.”
Performances are 8 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday evenings, 2 p.m. Saturday matinees; 1 and 6:30 p.m. Sundays.
