Where was the fire?: Celebrate the 104th anniversary of the Great Baltimore Fire with a walking tour of the downtown “burnt district,” Saturday, February 9. Led by Baltimore historian and educator Wayne R. Schaumburg of Perry Hall, this 11-block walk will trace the path of the 1904 blaze from Hopkins Place to Market Place with stops at significant historic landmarks along the way such as: the John E. Hurst Company, O’Neill’s Department Store, Baltimore Herald Newspaper, Continental Trust Building, Alex Brown & Sons Building, Mercantile Bank, the Sun Iron Building, the Baltimore American Building and the old Fish Market. The cost of the tour is $25 and includes a DVD copy of “Baltimore’s Great Fire” – a 53-minute documentary produced by A&G News Productions and broadcast by Maryland Public Television in 2004. Advance reservations are required and space is limited. Choo-choo-cha-boogie: The Holiday Festival of Trains in Ellicott City runs through Sunday, January 27. It’s not too late to see this year’s brand new “O” scale layout – created by Tony Zingarelli of Perry Hall and Larry Harrington of Kingsville and Catonsville resident Tom Sellars – and the regular Thomas the Tank Engine, “N” scale layout, and an exhibit on scale models and toy trains. Army Jazz Band to perform: Bring your sweetheart for a concert by one of the finest jazz ensembles in the world – The Jazz Ambassadors of the United States Army Field Band – Thursday, February 14 at 8:15 p.m. in the Towson University Center for the Arts Harold J. Kaplan Concert Hall. Program will feature a diverse repertoire including big band swing, contemporary jazz, Dixieland and patriotic selections. Bodine on display: Photographs by A. Aubrey Bodine, regarded around the world as one of the finest pictorialists of the 20th century, will be on display at Notre Dame Preparatory School, 815 Hampton Ln. in Towson, through Thursday, March 6. There will be a reception with the deceased photographer’s daughter, Jennifer Bodine, on Tuesday, February 12, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The exhibit is located in the art gallery of the Henry J.
