Cultural festival this weekend
The Baltimore County African American Cultural Festival, Inc. and the Baltimore County Office of Fair Practices and Community Affairs are finalizing plans for the 11th Annual Baltimore County African American Cultural Festival. The festival will be held on Saturday, September 15, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., in the Towson Courts Plaza Area.

Adrienne Jones, Director of Baltimore County’s Office of Fair Practices and Community Affairs, founded the Baltimore County African American Festival. “I am pleased that this event has become an annual fall tradition in Baltimore County,” Jones said.
“Thanks to the hard work from the members of the festival, this event has become a great family event for all ages,” she added.

In addition to entertainment, the day will also highlight the County’s 40 Historical African American Communities that are between 100 - 300 years old, with over 10,000 photo exhibits, memorabilia, two free bus tours, the legendary Buffalo Soldiers and Benjamin Banneker Historical Park and Museum.

Festival attendees are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy all that the festival has to offer, such as the scholarship presentation, health screenings, job recruitment, arts and crafts and delicious food.

The event is free and free parking will be provided at garages near the festival at York Road and Washington Avenue and Washington Avenue and Susquehanna Avenue.

For additional information and to register for the free historic bus tours, please contact The Baltimore County Office of Fair Practices and Community Affairs at 410-887-5557.
