All around town

Auditions – The Maryland State Boychoir will be accepting applications for auditions during the month of September. Auditions will be held on Saturday, Sept. 15, and Saturday, Sept. 29. All boys, ages 7-17, who love to sing are encouraged to apply. Previous training or experience is not required. Members of the Boychoir receive outstanding training in voice, as well as musical theory. Additionally, the choir offers boys the chance to sing great music, tour domestically as well as internationally, and to make new friends in a fun and challenging environment. Volunteers needed – Volunteers are needed to become Senior Health Insurance Program Counselors (SHIP) for the Baltimore County Department of Aging. The training for the new SHIP volunteers, coordinated by the Maryland Department of Aging, will be held every Wednesday, beginning Sept. 4 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., through Sept. 26, at the Parkville Senior Center, 8601 Harford Rd. SHIP volunteers participate in 18 hours of training and commit to two hours a week to counsel Medicare beneficiaries and assist with enrollment sessions for Medicare D.
